Looking for info on my great-granduncle, John McVay.
John, per family lore, stowed away on a whaler when he was 14. He became a Methodist minister, serving in Bristol, RI at the State Street Methodist Episcopal Church and, at least during June 1914, was the minister of one of the two Methodist churches in Provincetown, MA. In 1922, he was living in Sagamore, MA.
John had several sibling, including Daniel McVay, b 30 Aug 1855 and who lived 22 Couch St., Taunton, MA, from 1890 (per the city directory) til his death in 1938.
John's second wife was named Vesta.
John's parents, per Daniel's death certificate, were John McVay and Elizabeth Lindsey, both "of England."
