Not related. Hope something here helps...Linda I think in your request you meant the 1880 census in Fairfield, Connecticut, not Ohio. Anyway, that's what I'm using as a reference. I found this in Ancestry. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the Scotland Census Records but there's a James McTagart b. 1807 residing in Angus in the 1851 Scotland Census with a spouse named Mary. This may also be your James - The 1870 Census for Stratford, Fairfield, Conn. lists a James McFargarett 57 farm laborer 2000/205 b. 1813 Scotland and wife Mary 57 keeping house b. 1813 Scotland. No one else was listed with them. I'd say the Alex, age 27, listed below is probably the son of James and Mary McTaggart and the father of their grandson mentioned in the 1880 census - Alexander McTaggart. 1870 Census for Brooklyn, Kings, NY Dwelling #1434 - Number 1770 McTaggert Alex 27 b. 1843 m w gardener 1000/250 b. Scotland McTaggert Mary 28 b. 1842 f w keeping house b. Eng. McTaggert Harriet 2 b. 1868 f w b. NY McTaggert Alex 1 m w b. 1869 NY Gorman Pat 35 m w laborer b. Ire. Doneiff Edw? 40 m w laborer b.
