McSweeney, John, Iowa, born Ireland
I am interested in resolving a question: Is the person who married James A O'Brien rightly named Nora McSweeney or Nora McInery? First, I have not found a Nora McInery, born in Iowa circa 1872. However, I have found a Nora McSweeney, born in Fayette, Iowa circa 1872. She is listed, aged 4 in the 1880 Fremont Twp census, within the family of John McSweeney. His wife is Bridget [Galvin?]. John is 51, Bridget is 40. Each was born in Ireland. Others in the family are Mary, 17; Anna, 14: Catherine, 12: John, 8; Susan, 6; and Joseph, 10/12.
In 1870, the family lives in the same township. John is 43, Bridget is 30. Named children differing from elder ones above are Margaret, 9 and Frank, 7/12. Also in the family is Edmun McSweeney, aged 80, born Ireland. [Note that the surname is McSwaney in 1870].
Unverified records indicate that John McSweeny married Bridget Galvin 13 May 1860 in Buchanan, IA & that Bridget, born in Co Clare, IR circa 1841 died in Fayette, IA 29 Apr 1915.
Lastly, the Nora in question is aged 37 in 1910, then living in Ramshorn Precinct, Stanton, NE. In 1930, she is aged 58, living in Hamlin Twp, Brown, KS.
