Let me first state that I know absolutely nothing about your ancestor; so, you can justifiably toss all that I say. On the other hand, you seem never to get an answer to your postings on this, and my information might help.
Even though "John Jones" is almost like "John Doe", Jones may have been the name of one of your ancestor's close family members. We don't have to look far to find a Jones in the McSwain family in NC. David McSwain, b. ~ 1735 in PA, is supposed to have married Hannah Jones, and George W. McSwain, Sr, who was born about 1767 and was probably their son, married Elizabeth Jones. I don't know about other children of David and Hannah, but someone on this board probably does. George, Sr, and Elizabeth supposedly had 16 children, but I have information on only sons David and George W., Jr, and daughter, Elizabeth (my ancestor). Look for this McSwain family in Montgomery County, NC, in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Later, the ones with whom I am familiar moved to Henry County, TN.
