I've posted before on this but I have a bit more info, so maybe this will bear some fruit! My great grandfather Hugh McSorley always stated on records that he was born in Donegal, which was highly frustrating because there are no McSorleys in Donegal on the Griffith's Valuation except one Jane in Tievemore, Templecarn. Since that is a parish that juts right into Tyrone, where there are TONS of McSorleys, I decided that Roger,Hugh's father, must actually be from Tyrone even if his son was born in Donegal. Maybe he was born at Jane's house...?? In Griffiths 1851,there are only two Rogers listed-- one in Drumnabey, Ardstraw parish and one in Scraghy, Termonamongan Parish. Roger married a Catherine Mullen or McMullen somewhere around 1840-1850 and had my great grandfather in 1855. Hugh named his first daughter Catherine, second one Rose and third one Mary. There's a Rose McSorley in Ardstraw as well in Envagh, though I'm sure there are more not listed. Hugh moved to Philadelphia in 1884, married a widow, Mary Quinn Murphy, from Tyrone, in 1897 and had the three daughters I listed. If anyone sees any connections, I am hoping to hear from you!
