DOVER-FOXCROFT - Pauline V. Lyford, 87, died July 16, 2002, at a local nursing home after an illness of several months. She was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Aizzi (Crockett) Severance and William L. McSorley. She was raised by her mother and loving stepfather, Orman Severance. Pauline was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1932. She was a loyal sports fan of Foxcroft Academy and the University of Maine up until the time of her death. She also enjoyed horse racing and gardening. She was employed for several years in the lunch program at the Mayo Street School. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin B. Lyford Jr.; her parents; her son, Thomas E. Lyford; three sisters, Hattie May McSorley, Harriet Macomber, and Marjorie Warren; a brother, Omar Severance; and a great-grandson, Richard V. Lyford.

She leaves her loving companion of 43 years, Frederick T. Weston of Dover-Foxcroft; her son, Richard E. Lyford and his wife, MaryAnn of Nokomis, Fla.; her daughter, Donna (Lyford) Crane and her husband, Vernon of Dexter; two brothers, Herbert Severance and Edward Severance of Dover-Foxcroft; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew. She will be fondly remembered by two very special people, Colby and Jean Weston.

At Pauline's request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the family lot in Dover Cemetery, with the Rev. David McLeish officiating.
