Wymards, Harrys, and California...

Hello folks! My dad and grandfather were named Wymard McQuown...they were both born in CA (dad in 1945 grandpa in the 20s). I heard a rumor of a Harry McQuown who was a Mayor of a small town (Davis?) and the town was best known for having the highest number of "houses of ill-repute" in the late 1800's. Does this ring any bells?
