HUgh McQuiston, born Mar. 1839, came to America in the 1850's; joined Company F Indiana Inf. and was in the army 2 years, being wounded in the battle of Cold Harbor, Va.;then became a farmer who was noted for his integrity ; married 1st Elizabeth Smith who was b. 1847, and died Oct 2, 1872; married 2nd, Feb 28 1880 , Eliza J. Calhoun, b. May 21, 1860. He died Jan 22, 1900 and with the wife lizabeth and child is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ind. Mrs. Eliza J. McQyuiston lived (last known , as of 1937) at Monrovia, Morgan Co., Indiana. Children:1. Mary Edith, b. Apr 21, 1881;d.Mar.5,1884 2.Arthur Blair,b. April 2 ,1883; unmarried; d. Jan 22, 1903

Father of Hugh McQuiston was William McQuiston.
William McQuiston, born Drumsurn, County Derry, Ireland, was a country "Leech" or doctor and also a linen weaver. He was born May 2, 1800 and married Mary Ellen ("Mollie") Douglas, born in 1806, died Friday, June 13,1879, at her residence in the Townland of Maine. She had a black birthmark on her arm. He died Jan 14,1893. Both are buried in the Churchyard of Balteagh (Lislane). The plan of the grounds hanging in the church shows his lot but there are no stones except for two infant sons of his son John. The years of birth of this family were furnished by one of the family. They vary a little from those given by individuals. Children:
