4" X 8" granite brick
Army Brig General
John R. McQuigg
by Jerry McAfee
I have chosen to honor my cousin, US Army Brigadier General John R. McQuigg of Wooster, Ohio with this commemorative granite brick installed on Veteran's Day of November 2004 at the National World War 1 Museum and Liberty Memorial in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
John was the grandson of John McQuigg Sr. & Sarah McAfee of Wooster, Wayne Co, Ohio. He was the son of Samuel McQuigg.
This brick is to honor his service to this country during the Spanish American War and World War 1 along with his National Guard service in Ohio. He was a member of the Cleveland Grays and also a multi-term mayor of East Cleveland, Ohio. His obituary and bio can be found here at this McQuigg Genforum. He married Gertrude Imgard who was the daughter of August Imgard who brought the first Christmas tree tradition to the USA at Wooster, Ohio. August also made the first candy canes (white) to the USA at Wooster, Ohio
