I am interested in finding info on a John McQuigg and William W. McAfee b. abt. 1777 (or McDuffee) who came from Scotland to the area of Garragh,Co. Antrim/Co. Londonderry, Ireland around 1795 - 1802 . They came together as young men. McAfee and McDuffee are interchangeable surnames in both Scotland and Ireland (and variations of the spellings).
Perhaps they came from the isles of Jura or Islay since there seem to be McQuiggs and McDuffees there in that time period. They were Presbyterians and Scots and descendants of Scottish Convenantors.
William W. McAfee was my ggg grandfather. He settled for many years at West Park, Dunluce Parish, Co. Antrim, Ireland and later emigrated to the USA in June of 1838. A John McQuigg Sr. married William W. McAfee's daughter, Sarah, and they later came to the USA in 1843. All of them settling in the areas of Dalton and Wooster, Wayne Co, Ohio. This John McQuigg Sr. may have been the son of the John McQuigg who came over with William W. McAfee from Scotland.
Any info appreciated. thank you.
