Hi Barbara and thank you for writing me thats really kind of you to do this for me.However James of mine had one son William for sure born in TN.but only had sisters all born in Indiana Martin County I believe.Sisters names
were # 1 ( Nancy Margaret McFerrin ) who married Elvin Damewood he died and then she married Daniel Duncan, # 2 ( Elizabeth McFerrin ) married Isaac Damewood, # 3 (Charlotte McFerrin ) who married David Morgan, # 4 ( Suffa ) who never married and died from choking. These were the only children that I know of from James McFerrins family.
William of course is my Great Great Grandfather
This James has been a real problem to locate also other McFerrins or other spellings using James H. McFerrin/? in TN why
I just don't know.This James of mine did raise the son of one of his daughters that died in childbirth,that would be
Charlotte, husband named him William Morgan.Grandpa James raised him.
James and wife who ever she was lived in the Knoxville area of TN.in the 1830's at least because son William Adkins McFerrin was born May 8th 1835 then . Family stayed in TN. till 1844 then moved onto Indiana and continued to have sisters for little William.My records show that William was married in Indiana in 1855 to Caroline Matilda Inman his family moved on to Page county IA. in 1877 not sure if James moved on with William or not.Last known James was in Indiana.Hard fella to find. I also am not sure how a census taker may have spelled James last name.I do know
that William changed spelling the way it is now McFerrin. Wish this could have been the brake through for me
