Dear Angela, My line descends from Samuel McPheeters of Hawkins Co. TN. Many of them died in a great scourge of fever in 1829-1830, after which many survivors left the area. See, for example: http://www.tgn.net/~schwebel/mcpheete.htm Most of the people leading up to George McPheeters (1813) and Milly Armstrong (abt 1811) and their son, Thomas McPheeters (abt 1838) and his children, George A. McPheeters (abt 1858) and Mary Elizabeth McPheeters (Sep 1859; my ggrandmother) can be seen on this site: http://www.aldhizer.com/genealogy/family_directory/wc_idx/IDX001.htm#McPHEETERS The website with the history of the McPheeters Clan: http://www.electricscotland.com/webclans/m/macpheeter.html makes some reference to my line, and a little reference to a (probably separate) line in which descendents were born both in TN and GA. Is the GA Census record your are looking at this one? Murray County, GEORGIA: 1850 Census Index McPHEETERS 154B. Do you know when any of the later relatives died, e.g. late 1800's or early 1900's. We have a really excellent newpaper archive on microfilm at the main library of the Univ. Georgia. If I knew an approximate date and a county, I might be able to locate the obit for your ancestor. Did your McPheeters line remain in GA? I'm sorry I don't have any specific information for you yet. I have another McPheeters source in GA that I'll query on your behalf. Joe Crim Athens GA
