On Saturday, June 24th the descendants of Jesse and Rebecca (McPheeters) will hold their reunion at Ellis Park in Danville, IN. At that time the Indiana Historical Society will be dedicating an historical marker in memory of Danville's Samuel "Big Sam" Thompson, a member of Baseball's Hall of Fame. Sam was the homerun record holder before Babe Ruth. Rebecca McPheeters, Sam's mother, was the daughter of Samuel McPheeters of Hendricks County, IN. Samuel's father was John McPheeters, a Revolutionary War soldier. For more information about the reunion contact Don Thompson at butler66@cox.net.
