Just saw your message and wanted to respond with what I have. I am not sure if we are related but I have several family members from around Bowmore. There was a Donald McNiven, son of Esther Niven and Alexander McNiven. Alexander was the son of Neil McNiven and Flory McDonaldand baptized Oct. 29, 1786. I don't have a birth date for Donald but he was baptised Oct. 17, 1820. He had several bothers and sisters (John, Mary, Angus, Janet, Isabella, Alexander, Catherine and Anne).
