Thanks for the reply.

Yes, there are several ways people spell "McNeil." I gave what I found on the gravestone (McNiel) assuming the man who carved the stone did not make a mistake in speling.

There is a record of an Israel C. McNeil marrying an Elizabeth Creekman in Fayette county, Indiana, on January 25, 1837. That may be them but I'm not sure.
