In case anyone is interested there is now a second portrait of Mr. Alex McNeill posted on deadfred.com:

This picture of Mr. Alex. McNeill appears on page 15 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XXVII, no.1, January 1904. Please see that reference for more details. Mr. McNeill was vice-president of the Ontario Fruit Growers' Assoc.; chief fruit inspector for the dominion and an excellent public speaker. He was very involved in horticulture and lived in Canada. There are other photos of him posted here on deadfred. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
