I had heard that my great grandmother was and could be a nasty old woman, but I never saw anything out of her but love and kindness. I am the oldest great great grandbaby. She took my mom and her brothers and sisters in when her daughter Dorothy Wheat Groce divorced Jesse Paul Groce. I guess it is just hard for me to believe she could be full of meanness and hatred when I never seen it. But I was always told that I was Mary's pride and joy too. I was that woman's world. I pretty much lived with her when my mom started messing with my step dad cause I didn't want to go home and this was the early 70s. She died in the early 90s. Most of the Emmitts where big built people even the women. I can remember going to Uncle Dan Emmitts house a lot when I was a little girl. Everyone one of them had a mean streak and there is records in this papers I have of throat cutting and all sort of stuff.
