Probably the first McNee (or maybe McNie) to settle in Canada was James McNie who was the official piper for the Laird of McNab. They settled an area along the Ottawa River just west of Ottawa in what is now Ontario. I don't have my history books with me at the moment, but I believe they landed there in the early to mid 1700's.
