I have a lot of McNees from the Birkenhead/Liverpool area. Some in North Wales as well, I think, in and around Connah's Quay. I believe this particular line originated with a James McNee (born c. 1833, died c. 1899), a sailor who emigrated to Birkenhead from Scotland (possibly Stirlingshire) in the mid-late 1800s. He married an Irishwoman by the name of Catherine and had four sons, James (born c. 1869), Terrance (b. 1871), John (born c. 1874) and Peter (b. 1876). From what I can work out, James and John married two sisters, Mary and Emily Martin (also from Liverpool) respectively. I believe James had seven children (Margaret, James, George, William, Catherine, Harold and Alan) but I know nothing about any of their descendants. My own connection is through my paternal grandmother, Emily McNee, who was John's seventh child. She had seven brothers and sisters (John, Alfred, Terence, Dorothy, Peter, Francis and George), of whom I think only Peter is still living. Ringing any bells for anyone? Very keen to get more info on the McNees as what I have is very limited. Notify Administrator about this message?
