re: your comments on macgregor web site regarding the name Mcnee. I was told by paternal grandmother that, in gaelic, it means "son of king / champion". I have found a gaelic word that fits the bill, but not verified as yet - MHIC NIADH. As there are records of McNee families in NH, USA in the early 1700s suggests the name goes beyond the time of Rob Roy's uncle - perhaps to the time when the McGregor name was first outlawed - early 1600s.
