Phil,

I am Roger Cook Superintendent at Russellville Independent Schools 270-726-8405. my mother Francis Virginia McNear was born in Marion County 1923. Her dad was William Green McNear who I am not sure where he was born but it could have been in Mercer County. I have a civil war document with William Mcnear born in Mercer County but died in 1864 at Chickamauga in Georgia. I have the paper where his wife filed for a pension. It list seven or so children. William signed up with the union army in Marion County and left behind a wife and many children. I do not know if one of them could be related to you or not. I would venture to say that your McNears and my McNears are one and the same family. My cell phone is 270-772-3365 if you would like to converse concerning. I would be interested in any Mcnear information you might have especially if it involves Marion County or Mercer County.

Roger D. Cook
