James McNary (N. Ireland) - to Canada 1917

I am curious if anyone knows about a connection between the American/Scottish McNary's and a family of McNary's from Northern Ireland. My grandfather ran away from home at an early age, worked at sea for a time on colliers, and ended up in Windsor/Detroit around the end of the First World War. He never passed on any information on the family he had left behind, and my father passed away without knowing much more than that there had been siblings who may have ended up in Australia. Attempts to trace through Northern Ireland have been unsuccessful.

Appreciate any information you may have. Thank you.
