Seeking descendants of James and Estella (Hamblet) McMurry
I am working on the maternal ancestors of Estella (Hamblet) McMurry who was born in Iowa, 1862.In the 1900 Federal census, James and Estella McMurry were in Damascus, Clackamas Co., Oregon, with children:Job A., Clyde, Harry S., Alice, Ida, Almond G., and Emma Rowan, also son-in-law Mark R. Rowan.Other children not listed in this census were Frank and Verl.According to a transcribed obit at the "Find a Grave" Website, Estella's father, Alfred/Alford Hamblet, died May 10, 1912, at James and Estella's home:
"Alfred Hamblet, aged 80 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James McMurry, after a lingering illness Thursday evening, and was laid to rest in Pleasant View cemetery Saturday noon. Rev. E. A. Smith conducted the service at the grave. He was born in New York in 1932 (sic) and came out here last fall. He is survived by a widow and several children."
I am seeking descendants, hoping that someone might know when and where Alford's widow, Emily (Kittle) Hamblet died and is buried. Also I'm interested in any old letters or documents, photographs, or family stories, in hopes that there are clues to finding the name of Emily's father and providing more evidence for her mother.
I have information posted at my Website that includes a photo of "Verle" McMurry and a group photo showing James, Estella, and several of their young children with other relatives.
