Seeking parents and further information of this Samuel McMurray: Samuel McMurray, born March 1825 in Tennessee, Shown on the June 4, 1900 Census for Bullitsville, Boone, County, KY: Kentucky, Boone County, Bulletsville, June 4, 1900, Supervisors District 6, Enumeration District 2, Sheet 3A, Dwelling 48, Family 57, Roll T623-507, shows Samuel McMurray, white, male, age 75, head, born March 1825, in Tennesse, father born in IRELAND, mother born in GERMANY. shows Sarah McMurray, wife, white, female, age 59, born May 1841 in Kentucky, father born in Pennsylvannia, mother born in Virginia children: Samuel McMurray born December 24, 1866 Indiana Robert McMurray born April 24, 1871 Indiana Henry McMurray born May 26, 1875 Kentucky Holton McMurray born Aug 1878 Kentucky The 1900 census also lists another son of Samuel (but obviously not by wife Sarah Groves as his older than the 1864 marriage date): William McMurray, born June 1855 in Indiana (Kentucky, Boone County, Bulletsville, June 4, 1900, Supervisors District 6, Enumeration District 2, Sheet 3A, Dwelling 48, Family 57, Roll T623-507, shows William, son of Samuel, age 45, widow, born June 1855 in Indiana, father born in TN, mother born in KY. This William is not the son of spouse Sarah) Holton married a Laura Malissa Fleek and had children Elmer and Stanley, and lived in Hamilton County, Ohio. Holton died about 1907 Samuel Jr had a wife named Ida or Edna and lived in Dearborn County IN in 1900, and died in July 1911 Henry married Ida Mae Fleek, a cousin to Laura Malissa Fleek listed above I hope someone can place this particular family, or let me know a possible Tennessee McMurray family Samuel SR would be a match to. Since his father was born in Ireland and his mother born in Germany they are obviously immigrants. Also, since we have a son by an unknown first marriage named William McMurray, born in 1855 in Indiana, I am hoping someone will be able to place him. I have found no further information on him, including in the census records. I expected to find William on the 1860 census with Samuel his father, since it was before he married Sarah in 1864, but no such luck. Samuel was not alive by 1910, just one year before the 1911 recording of deaths in Kentucky. So I have never found a death record of him. Sarah died in 1920 so I do have her death record and parents names. Sarah is stated to be buried in the "family cemetary" where ever that might be! Another researcher gave me this information: By the way, of interest to you: I discovered yesterday that there is a family cemetery called the McMurray Cemetery located somewhere near Petersburg in Boone County and near the Ohio River. It is fenced, but no stones are visible. ***** Here is information copied from page 348 of "BOONE CO., KENTUCKY CEMETERIES" by Stephen W. Worrel, published in 1996: "McMurry Cemetery: Off Garrison Creek Rd., across from Power plant on the Ohio side of the river. No stones could be found at the likely site of this graveyard in September, 1995, enclosed in a wire fence next to a derelict house. Topo." Note: Topo means 'marked on relevant USGS topographic map.' ---- Has anyone ever been to this McMurray family cemetary? No stones visible, but maybe there are flat stones on the ground? Where would a listing be of the people buried there? or would there not be any? Notify Administrator about this message?
