I descend from a John McMurray (b. 1765) line who came to the US from County Armagh, Ulster on Jun 14, 1825. Along with John on that voyage was his wife Jane and his sons Henry and Hutchinson. I am descended from Henry as follows: John (b. 1765, Ireland) > Henry (b. 1805, Ireland) > Peter (b. 1850, Pennsylvania) > John Albert (b. 1887, Wisconsin) > John Kenneth (b. 1920, Illinois) > me Now, once this family landed in New York then went immediately to Delaware County, New York and met up, presumably, with a whole bunch of McMurrays who were already there in 1825. Principally, per the 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses there were: - John [b. ~1755] - Robert [b. ~1767] - Robert [b. ~1788] - John [b. ~1794] - George [b. ~1794] All of these McMurrays lived in Delaware County whether it be Kortright, Walton, Meredith, or Bovina during the time period of the first half of the 19th century. In the 1830 census the elder John and the elder Robert are listed as living in George's household which implies family to me. George's children's names however follow a nomenclature protocol which would indicate that he is the son of MY John; the father of Henry and Hutchinson. I am very interested in properly structuring the relationships between these three Johns, two Roberts, and George. If anyone knows anything about these Delaware County McMurrays I would love to hear it. I'm thinking there are descendents out there who can trace themselves to one or more of these McMurrays.
