I have William Grifton McMurray as one of 11 children of E. Samuel McMurray and Elizabeth Williams. William was listed as age 5 in E. Samuel's household in the Polk District of Rutherford Co. in 1850. In 1860 he was listed as "Griffon," age 15, still in E. Samuel's household. I have tried to link E. Samuel McMurray to one of the two Rutherford Co. NC McMurray families - Samuel, who died in 1803 or William, who died in 1811, but have not been able to make a connection. I suspect he was a grandson of one of these men. I will gladly share what info I have on the E. Samuel McMurray line and the other lines as well. Email be directly at bcalla6711@aol.com.
