Hello all - I have a David McMurray as my 5th great-grandfather. A point to consider: In the posts folks are quoting, David is clearly referenced as McMurray. Second: the post of the Ga Passports thru Creek Nation, there is an error of attribution - the poster doesn't know that Joshua Spradlin is indeed related to the Kimbroughs, Baldwin, etc - his Son William A Spradlin married Hannah McMurray, daughter of David McMurray. Joshua Spradlin had no brothers in Mississippi - his family was all in either Wilkes NC, or Wilkes GA at the time. Joshua was a Rev War vet and received land in the GA Lottery for Rev Soldiers (Irwin) and he and Hannah ended up in Putman Co Ga.
A last point about David McMurrain - I think he and my David are not the same person - your McMurrain was clearly born very early and would have been over 100 by several years at death in 1848. David McMurray was not born until 1762, so would have been a more reasonable age at death in 1848. David McMurray is easily traced thru his military records and his land records. My David married Mary Kimbrough. Your David sounds to have married a sister?
