I am a grgr-granddaughter to James (born c 1823) and Rose (Feb 1831) McMillan both born in Scotland.
They came to Canada sometime before 1858, had 3 children Mary, William and Betsy. They then moved the family to Michigan and had a fourth child Sarah in Michigan. Thier daughter Mary, aged 19, married Wellington Jefferson Durfey in Ontario in 1877 and they had 8 children (all born in Michigan). Mary died in Aug 26,1892 2 days after the birth of her daughter Mary.
Wellington went to Prison in 1896 and the family fractured and most contact was lost for many years. The 1900 MI census had my great uncle Wellington Jr living with his maternal grandmother Rose McMillan (then widowed) in Sheridan.
I would appreciate any information on any of the McMillan family. I know that by 1900, 2 of the 4 children born to Rose and James were passed (Mary being one of them, but I don't know which of the others William Sarah or Betsy). Anyone with ancestry or descendants information for Rose and James please let me know
