Since no one has yet traced the lineage of William Carson McMeans, I am posting all of the records I have found for him and the men who are likely his brothers – Alfred S. McMeans and Daniel Harrison McMeans.
I believe some researchers have said William also had a brother named Samuel, but I haven't found a Samuel living in Lauderdale County, Alabama. If someone has proof of a brother named Samuel, please let me know.
Maybe some of this will help in the search for their parents. According to the 1880 censuses for both Alfred and William (Daniel didn’t live until 1880), their father was born in Tennessee and their mother was born in South Carolina. This is the best clue I have at this time.
