From the Estate records (Abbeville District Wills and Bonds, Box 57, Pack 1366) the following names can be documented and associated in some way with Mississippi: Rachel Matilda McMeen, minor of William McMeen marries William Smith and Margaret McMeen, minor of Wm. McMeen marries John Shelleto (Source: Charleston Observer issue of Jan. 9, 1830, page 33). They marry on Dec. 24, 1830 near Beeville C.H. Mary A. McMeen made a Deed of Trust with John Campbell Livingston, Nov. 28, 1835 in Itawamba, MS. John Livingston is married to Martha Pickens Livingston. It was witnessed by John Shelleto of Abbeville, S.C. The indenture was for Mary and her daughter, Sarah Margaret McMeen (Sarah Margaret McMeen married Lawson Wilson in Monroe, MS on Oct. 26, 1848 with William Smith putting up the bond). William Smith is made guardian of Jane Amanda McMeen on July 14, 1831 (Source: Abbeville District Wills and Bonds, Box 66, Pack 1620). Jane marries James Livingston and lives next door to William and Rachel Smith on the 1850 Monroe, MS census, Margaret McMeen, 70 years old is living in the Smith household. James B. English; James Bryson English born ca 1773, also of Abbeville married Martha McMeans born ca 1775 (Source: David McMeans, Feb 23, 2000 post on McMeans Forum). James son, Samuel L. Lewis is living in Itawamba, MS 1850 census with his mother, Martha (75 years old). Alexander Spence: Is on the Itawamba, MS 1850 also. Prior to that he lived in Perry Co., AL. He was born about 1792 in SC. A Robert Spence is on the 1840 census living next to William Smith. Then there is Robert C. McMeen also a minor of Wm. McMeen. He is on the 1836 tax list for Itawamba, MS. On Nov 1835 John Campbell Livingston made a Deed of Trust for Section 11-S, 8-E, for 160 acres to Robert Crawford McMeen (Source LDS #901623). On Dec 4, 1843 he owed Lindsay & Capp money and sold the property. However, the same property was registered to John C. Livingston on Dec 5, 1843 (Source: LDS #901623). Margaret Virginia Smith, daughter of William and Rachel was my great great grandmother.
