McMeans of Tazwell County, VA to Carter County, KY

While researching the 1880 Kentucky Census records for my family, I found a possible connection to the McMeans family. It appears four families - Johnson, Smith, McMeans, and McSilas - may have been related and all migrated from Virginia to Kentucky sometime between 1870 and 1880. I would be glad to share the census page that provides this information and would greatly appreciate any infomation you may have. The McMeans family members include Margery McMeans born in South Carolina about 1800. She is listed as a grandmother in my great-great grandfather's household. Living in the Smith household, there is also an Elihu (born 1800 in Tazwell County, VA) and Malinda (born 1821 in Tazwell County, VA) McMeans that appears to be related to Margery McMeans previously mentioned. All of these families are grouped together on the census page. It's just my speculation, but I believe there may be a link between these families. Can anyone help?
