Nancy:
Thanks for the obit. I am finding out more about him every day.
On another note, I was at the state library in Austin the other day and looked through 4 volumes of books of newspaper clippings from the "Columbus Enquirer" in Columbus, Ga. Our ggg grandpa Hachaliah's name was plastered all over that book. The entries mostly were about Sherrifs Sales. He most have lost everthing. Did he have a business partner named James Harrison? That name kept popping up with Hachaliahs many times. I counted about 20 sales that went against him and 1 that was in his favor. I could have missed some also. There were also 2 sherrifs sales in 1837 and 1838 where Hachaliah was not involved, however a "H" McMath signed as the deputy sherrif. I suppose that he was a deputy sherrif before his troubles began?
