Hi, I'm John Ginley's niece. I am the grandaughter of Bridget McManamon and Thomas Ginley of Sugar Notch,PA. My mother is Margaret.
I have located the grave of my great-uncle Daniel L. McManamon who was killed in France on September 28, 1918. He was a Private in the U.S. Army, 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division. He is buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetary, Plot C, Row 28, Grave 07 in Romagne, France. The cemetary is maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission (See their website www.abmc.com for photographs of the cemetary). I have a picture of his grave which I will e-mail to anyone with an interest.
When he was leaving for the war, he told his sister, Bridget, that he was going so that Bridget's son, Michael (then about age 8), would never have to. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way.
Even though he died a long time before I was born, it is a comfort to know where he rests.
As to Daniel's brother, Michael McManamon, I have not yet found any information. If anyone knows what happened to him, please let me know.
