Posted by: Mildred Dotterer (ID *****8082) Date: September 20, 2002 at 11:20:17

I am looking for any information of the following persons:

1. REBECCA2 MCMAKIN/MCMAKIN/MCMACKEN/MCMECHEN/MCMAHON) was born Abt. 1760 in VA? , and died Abt. 1835 in Spartanburg Co, SC. She married DAVID EVAN DAVIS, JR Abt. 1785 in Spartanburg Co, SC, son of DAVID DAVIS and ELINOR CLARK of Spartanburg Co, SC. He was born Abt. 1760 and died Abt. 1825 in Spartanburg Co, SC.

Some children of REBECCA MCMAKIN and DAVID DAVIS are:
       i.       JOHN LEWIS "JACKIE"3 DAVIS, b. 1790, Spartanburg Co, SC; d. 1872, Keltonburg, DeKalb Co, Tn; m. ELLENDER "NELLIE" CANTRELL, Abt. 1814, Spartanburg Co, SC; b. Abt. 1794, Spartanburg Co, SC; d. Aft. 1880, Keltonburg,DeKalb Co,.
ii.       MARY ELIZABETH "POLLY" DAVIS, b. 1801, Spartanburg Co, SC; d. Bet. 1862 - 1865, Polk Co, MO; m. PETER CANTRELL, Abt. 1820; b. Bet. 1800 - 1801, Spartanburg Co, SC; d. Aft. 1870, prob Lawrence Co, MO.

My early information is that my Davis' lived on Mill Creek where it empties into the Pacolat River. Land records however show that DAVID DAVIS (wife ELEANOR CLARK) lived on a fork of the Tyger River below the Pacolat River (per: plat recorded in Greenville Co, SC) and she is named in the Bush Baptist Church records. They were supposed to be the parents of David Evan Davis, Jr. Other settlers by David on the Tyger River were BENJAMIN CLARK and WILLIAM DAVIS. My Davis' and CANTRELL's of Spartanburg Co, SC intermarried. My Cantrell's lived on the Pacolat River and attended the Buck Creek Baptist Church. JESSE DAVIS and Sookey lived on the Pacolat and also a JOHN DAVIS. I am looking for any information about anyof these families.
