Surnames and Septs
HI Folks,
I wanted to relay to some of you that
are researching the Septs and Surnames, that
there are different spellings, variations, if you will.
The Surnames of the Clan Menzies includes those of MacMin, MacMein,MacMean,
MacMain,as well as several others.
We come from Clan Menzies, originated
by Robert DeMeyners of Normandy, France, 1500's, in Edinburgh and built the Castle Menzies in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland.
Notice the DeMeyners Surname, it was changed too in Scotland, and became Menzies.
The Mac and MC merely means, " Son Of", in
Scotland and Ireland.
The term Sept means that we are branches,
and our names are spelled different, to give
proper identity, but are still branches of
the Clan Menzies.
Hope this helps,
Jackie M. McMinn ( a he type )
