John Mott McMahon
Help!I am seeking information about John Mott McMahon; an NCO in Troop F of the Third Cavalry who fought in the Indian Wars.John received the Medal of Honor for his actions in an engagement with hostile Apaches in Arizona on May 5, 1871. For some reason, his official army record lists him only as John Mott, but John Mott McMahon was apparently his full name.He seems to have mustered out and later worked in some capacity for the Quartermasters Corps out of Chicago during the latter period of the Plains Indian wars.I don't know any more about him; but I expect if he survived these times,he may have written up some account of his recollections for a local newspaper or historical society near the place where he later lived(and died).Somewhere, I have a reference as to the date of his death, but I don't know where he died. Any information about this man would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at the above address.Thank You!Mark.
