McMahon Family Genealogy Forum

Thanks for the information. I shall have to go back to the Rock Creek Cemetery for a look again. Why the McMahon family came to Madison County is a question which interests me. It probably had something to do with Reconstruction. After the Civil War the family almost completely moved from Grimes County. Then John Henry McMahon (my branch) went North, and William McMahon went West. I always thought that it was just Daniel McMahon's family who stayed in Madison County, but with your information I know more of the family stayed around.
Are you sure Martha McMahon was born in Alabama? Her parents, James McMahon and Narcissa Neely, were married in Grimes County April 2, 1863. And James did a real estate transaction in Grimes County November 8, 1866. Why would James and Narcissa go to Alabama for Martha to be born October 29, 1863, especially as the Civil War was going on?
Again, thanks, I look forward to exchanging more information.
