McMackin Surname (SC)

First of all, i am still unsure of the origin of the surname "McMackin". I believe it is scot-irish or scot or irish or welsh. As you can see, I am having trouble. Secondly, I would like to meet others with information regarding McMackin's in South Carolina. My Greatgrandfather was William Fraser McMackin (b.1890 in Chester, SC and lived in Mount Pleasant, SC)and his wife Sadie J. McMackin (b.1890). I believe his father's name was Zachery. Do you have any inforamtion that would help me trace this tree further?

Cliff McMackin
Charlotte, NC / Nashville, TN
