Please keep our ROGERS of CARROLL CO. TN in mind when you look at your McMackin family data. We also have PICKLERS and STOKERS in our line of ROGERS and the PICKLERS also are in the McMackin lines. We could sure use dates on the Rogers in your MCMACKINS lines, do determine if they might have been the cousins or nephews and neices of our WILLIAM L. ROGERS b. 1770 Montgomery Co. NC. We had at least two ROGERS in our lines in Carroll Co. TN marry McMackins and here is one, with the other one being JOSHUA A. G. ROGERS who md. SUSAN or SUSANNAH McMACKINS and we aren't sure who her father is, however, some believe he might have been ANDREW MCMACKIN. Here is what we have on Joshua A. G. Rogers first and then our Minter Lee Rogers who md. David McMackin :

Joshua A. G. Rogers b. 1821 NC died March 1877 in Carroll Co. TN md. Susan McMakin/ McMackin on 27 Dec. 1847 in Carroll Co. TN. Susan was possibly the daughter of ANDREW McMAKIN. Joshua A. G. Rogers and Susan or Susannah McMakin/McMackin had children :

1. James A. Rogers who md. Mary A. Grissom;
2. William D. Rogers
3. Green Clark Rogers md. Martha J. Smith
4. Josiah Franklin Rogers who md. Nancy Elizabeth

Here is DAVID McMACKINS ( son of James Alexander JR. ) who md. Minter Lee Rogers, the daughter of Basil Rogers b. 1794 Montgomery Co. NC ( now Stanly Co. NC near Rowan )

8. DAVID4 MCMACKIN (JAMES ALEXANDER3, JAMES ALEXANDER2, JAMES1) was born February 14, 1821 in Carroll County, Tennessee, and died July 21, 1891 in Carroll County, Tennessee. He married (1) MINTER LEE ROGERS 1844 in Carroll County Tennessee, daughter of BASIL ROGERS and REBECCA UNKNOWN. She was born Unknown. He married (2) SARAH E. DRIVER September 11, 1860, daughter of WILLIAM DRIVER. She was born June 20, 1834 in North Carolina.

Notes for DAVID MCMACKIN:
Per : John T. Wrights file on McMackins he had a birth date of Feb. 13, 1821 in Carroll Co. TN for David McMackins and had placed David as a son of JAMES ALEXADNER McMACKIN, Sr. b. abt. 1742 Ireland, but I feel that is in error. I have given David McMackins a birthdate of Feb. 13, 1821 Carroll Co. TN per the listing below in teh Goodspeed's History of Tennessee. I am aslo going by other McMackins files listings of these same McMackins to try to compile the line as I believe it might have been. There is much descrepancies on these McMackins who spelled their surname as MACKIN, McMACHAN, MCMAKIN, and McMACKIN. Several who research these lines, are in hopes we can sort this out and be able to see how the lines interconnected to one another in the ROGERS, PICKLERS, CROWELLS, and etc. lines who married into the early McMackin settlers of Carroll Co. TN and Hickman Co. TN. - Tina Rogers Beller jkpb3@bellsouth.net Aug. 2003.

BIOGRAPHICAL APPENDIX
David McMacken

David McMackin, a farmer by vocation, was born in North Carolina February 14, 1821. He is the second of five children three sons and two daughters born to James and Elizabeth (Frick) McMackin, and of Scotch-Irish descent. His father was born in North Carolina in 1791, and was raised and educated in his native State. On attaining his majority he married and soon after immigrated to Tennessee. He lived one summer in Humphreys County, not far from Waverly. At the end of this time they moved to Carroll County and settled on the homestead now occupied by our subject. The father of our subject was an early settler of this county, and one of the prominent and respected citizens of the locality in which he lived. He aided in cutting out the first road in this part of the county, now known as the Huntingdon and Camden road, extending from Sandy River to Huntingdon, the county seat of Carroll County. He died at his home September, 1864. The mother of our subject was born in North Carolina and died at the homestead in 1858. David McMackin was raised on the farm, receiving the usual education afforded by the common school in the country, and has given his time to agricultural pursuits. He was married in Carroll County in 1844 to Miss Mintie Rogers. Six children resulted from this union, of whom four were raised to maturity: James William, Nancy E., Eli A. and Mary A. James W. died August 23, 1876, and Eli A. died December 29, 1878. The mother of this family was also born in Carroll County, and died July, 1857. Our subject was married the last time September 11, 1860, to Miss Sarah E. Driver, daughter of William Driver, a farmer. This lady was born in North Carolina June 20, 1834. Mr. McMackin is a zealous Republican, and Mrs. McMackin is a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He has nearly 700 acres of land, about 400 of it being in the home place. He raises stock to some extent, but devotes his chief attention to cotton and grain. The farm is situated two miles east of Hollow Rock, on the line of the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railroad, and is pleasantly located with the best water in this part of the county. The residence is well located, and is in every respect a most desirable home. Mr. McMackin is highly esteemed by all who know him as a man of fine char.. acter and sterling worth
