Joshua and Martha were most likely married in Rowan County, NC or that area. When do you think that they were married? It seems like most of the children left NC in the early 1800's. Joel Harris witnessed Mary McMahan's will and that is where I must have changed the initial J to Joel, also Morgan's brancj used the name Joel several times in future generations. I should not have made that assumption but now I will correct it. Now the part of Rowan County that the McMahan's came from is now in Davie County near Mocksville. The cemetery where Samuel and Mary are buried and also James and Susannah is Whitaker Graveyard.
It is wonderful to here your branches version of the peach accident! I always wondered how he managed to fall off the wagon, I thought he was driving it but this does make sense! Even more fantastic is that a former researcher in Arizona (she is now deceased) had a similar story to ours but I think hers may have just been while picking peaches. Samuel died in August but the year is what is unclear, I hope one day to track the year down precisely.
