Does anyone know of this MARTHA JANE McCLURE(McLure) b. March 1852 in AR who married Richard Lee SMITH abt 1872. They are both buried in McKendree Cemetery, Logan Co, AR. We think they may have run away to Missouri or another place to marry because their parents disapproved of the marriage. This has been a story passed down in our family. Their daughter, Minnie Missouri Smith b. 1891, always told us grandkids she was born in Missouri, thus her middle name. (But we are still looking at Scranton area of Logan Co Arkansas with an open mind) She also told of coming to Arkansas from Missouri by wagon train, abt 1895/96/97 when she was 5 or 6 years old. The children of Martha and Richard Smith were: Gentry W Smith b. 1877; 'Charlie' Charles Thomas Smith b. 1879; Harriet E Smith b. 1882; Annie Smith b. 1883; Mattie May Smith b. 1886; 'Ginney' Gina Belle Smith b. 1888; Minnie Missouri Smith b. 1891; Albert Smith b. 1894 There were also two more children I don't have names for. We have some information on Martha's husbands family, the Smith's. But have nothing solid on Martha's McClure family.
If anyone has even a clue it would be appreciated very much.
