steve, i have no mcneill relatives. it's my husband's line. he goes back to strong john mcneill and i am trying to find out which of the mcneills in north carolina belonged to strong john. i have thought it might be the laird archie family, so i have just started checking out my theory. bell mclarran was the wife of daniel mcneill, son of laird archie. this is what i have on that family: capt. daniel mcneill(1750-1808) m. isabell mclerran (1767-1854). he bought land on Black River frm duncan campbell, john dickson and james mcneill. isabella, as a widow, was denied a pension 1838 because she had no proof of daniel's identity as a revolutionary soldier. her will 1852 mentions money from her pension to go to the presbyterian church. so, i guess she got the pension. daniel witnessed 1804 john ray's will. buried old bluff cem., baptism records, bluff presbyterian church. their daughter, barbara, and her husband thomas bulla, are both buried in the archibald mclerran family cem., cumberland co nc. elvalee
