Dear Donna,

My husband Rev. James Angus McLeod,PhD has in his possession many family as well as historical archives. We literally have storage boxes stacked to the ceiling full of these archives. Jim's family was very disciplined to keep daily dairies and his mother and grandfather, Rev. William Angus McLeod, D.D., were both very involved with geneaology. My husband's ancestors are traced back as far as "Buffalo" John Daniel McLeod who married Nancy McCrimmon and immigrated from the Isle of Skye to North Carolina. They settled in what was then Cumberland County. Cumberland County and Robeson County were combined at a later time and is now called Hoke County, North Carolina. Anyway, it is entirely possible that we may have some information that will help you in your search for your ancestors. Jim has been in contact with a lady by the name of Myrtle Bridges who manages the Hoke County web page who has been of help to us. Her e-mail address is: hbridges@worldnet.net. You might try to locate a Robeson County web page. As I understand it, only part of Cumberland Co. and part of Robeson Co. formed the now present Hoke County. We will certainly be happy to forward any info we might find on your ancestors, but it may take us a while to go through all these arichives. This will be done fairly soon though because we are donating these archives to the University of Texas for preservation and safe keeping. In the meantime please feel free to e-mail either me at: mamcleod@swbell.net or my husband at: jamcleod@swbell.net. We wish you luck in your quest...and "Hold Fast!".

Sincerely,

Marsha McLeod
