My Mysterious McLendon/McClendon Line
Looking for any help in sorting through my McLendon/McClendon Family.I have an Ellen/Ella McClendon/McLendon b. 1839 place ? , d. 1919 in Wayne Co., MS.I do not know whether McLendon/McClendon is her maiden or married name.I believe it is her married named because there is a daughter/daughter-in-law Dora McLendon/McLendon (#1).There are no birth or death dates for this Dora McLendon (#1).Dora McLendon/McClendon (#1) has a son Taylor McLendon born 1878.There is a marriage between Dora McLendon(#1) and Charlie W. Guy in Clarke Co., AL on Jan. 5, 1881.A daughter Dora McLendon/McClendon Guy(#2) was born in 1881.We do not have birth dates for Dora McLendon Guy(#2).Family gossip has stated that Dora McLendon Guy(#2)was never really a Guy and neither was her son John.We believe that Dora McLendon(#1) was expecting when she married Charlie Guy.Dora McLendon Guy (#1) died sometimes between the birth of Dora (#2) and 1886.Charles W. Guy marries Ellen McLendon, (yes the grandmother of Dora McLendon #2)on Sept. 26, 1887, in Wayne Co., MS.Dora McLendon Guy (#2) marries John D. W. Paul, (b. Aug. 6, 1876, d. March 16, 1948 in Wayne Co., MS) Jan. 16, 1899.Dora McLendon (#2) gives birth to John Dan Paul Guy, April 23, 1899.Dora was five months pregnant when she marries John Paul.John D. W. Paul and Dora McLendon (#2) never live together.Their son John Dan Paul Guy b. April 23, 1899 in Clarke Co., AL, only uses the Guy last name.He never went by his father's name of Paul.John Dan Guy (Paul) ismy grandfather. He married Jewel Earline Westbrook in AL, Dec. 20, 1924.John Dan Guy also had a sister Betty Guy.Her father was not John D. W. Paul.It seems that Dora McLendon Guy Paul had a bit of a wild streak. This is a very complicated story and I have tried researching them from every available angle. If You recognise anything in this mess please let me know. The family members that may have had the information are all gone taking the information with them.I do know their was great embaressment in the family over this situation.Any help would be wonderful. All of the names and dates have come from cemetery records or marriage records from Wayne Co., MS and Marengo, Clarke and Wilcox Co., Al.Even if you can't help, any ideas on how to figure out this mess are appreciated.
Thanks,
Angeline
