Madisonville Democrat, (Monroe Co. TN) Wednesday, August 4, 1938, Page 2:
“Corntassel---A little son of Mr. & Mrs. Bud McLemore was buried in the Mullins graveyard near Hulin, Sunday, July 31. The child has never been strong and in the spring was taken to Dr. Burchfield in Maryville, where an eye was removed. He suffered intensely until death relieved him. He was just three years and four days old. Cancer was the disease. The parents have our heartfelt sympathy, and can rejoice that he is “Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on his gentle breast,” where suffering is no more for him.”
