I am trying to find the possible McLemore ancestry of Willis McLemore Campbell. Parents were John Campbell and probably Aney Webster who was probably Cherokee and perhaps given the name Webster so she could legally marry in Alabama, which was the practice when Indians with no surname married to white spouses.
The Campbells lived in Jackson Co. AL
Willis married a Simmons there and his sister Margaret also married a Simmons--John Simmons, son of Thomas. Margaret named a son John McLemore Simmons.

Margaret and John were my greatgrandparents. Their son, John McLemore Simmons, of Minturn, AR was my Dad's uncle.
