Don't know the system in the UK, must assume from what I am used to(USA). Would start by looking for birth and death certificates, marriage records, obituaries, and cemetery records. Next would be church records, military records, social organizations and union or professional society records. Also might try for school records. Good hunting. R.L.Mc(d)
