Thanks Tina. The name, McLeister, is a sept of the McGregor clan from Scotland.McLeisters are true McGregors and originated in Scotland. However, at an ancient time when King Alpin ruled Scotland, another king came to conquer and was killing any McGregors so they could never come back to claim the throne, the clan separated into groups and took up different names - McLeister was one of them. They also fled to other locations and the McLeisters went to Ireland. We have traced our family back to Ireland and my brother is in the process of looking into trying to find them there. There is another group who came into Pennsylvania earlier than ours, some of them using the McLeister spelling. My brother knows a descendant of that group who has information on them.We have traced all of our family since they arrived in the U.S. except we do not know what happened to the parents who first arrived here. They were Arch and Elisha McLeister on the ship's passenger list in 1842.But have traced all of the children down to today. We feel that there is a connection between our family and the earlier ones who arrived in Pa. but the connection is probably back in Ireland history.Hopefully we will someday find it.Good luck to you as well.....pj
