William W. McLean in 'Renaissance of the Clan Maclean by' J. P. Maclean
Posted by: Barbara Davis (ID *****7737) Date: March 24, 2012 at 20:51:18

On page 103-104 of J. P. Maclaen's book 'Reanaissance of the Clan Maclean' he mentions a William W. Mclean from Fosterville, TN that attended the 1912 Gathering of the Clans at Duart Castle.
Per J. P. Maclean... Mr. William W. Mclean, said he was a direct descendant of Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean, 14th Clan Maclean Chief, by his son Charles... also said that Mr. William W. McLean's great grandfather Ephraim (and his brother Charles) came to America in 1750... and that Sir Lachlan's son Charles married a daughter of Hector 8th of Lochbuy (Lochbuie).

My questions are:

1. Who is the father/family of this William W. McLean of TN that attended the 1912 gathering of the Clan Maclean at Duart Castle, Isle of Mull, Scotland?

2. What documentation is available for Charles Maclean, son of Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean, 14th Clan Chief?

3. Who are the children of Charles Maclean and daughter of Hector 8th of Lochbuie?

My ggg grandfather was William W. McLean, M. D., b. 1821 in Rutherford, TN, and d. 1853 in Tyler, TX. He was the son of Charles Mclean (1771-1825), who was the son of Ephriam McLean (1730-1823).

Any suggestions where to look for documentation on the above mentioned people is greately appreciated.

Barb Davis
