Looking for information on James McClain (listed as McLean on his marriage record), born about 1816, who married Susannah Gooding. After Susannah's death between 1840 and 1847 James married her sister Martha. He was in Cannon Co. TN in 1840 and 1850 (with Martha). His son, James R. (Rolan) McClain, born 1842 in TN married Arbella O'Barr (d/o William of SC). Their son, James Martin McClain born 1867 in TN married at least 5 times, one time being to May (Mary?) Florence Powers of Dover TN. James Martin and May had a daughter Catheryn "Kate" Lorraine McClain, born 1905 in Stewart/Houston Co TN married Ruben Schmidt and moved to Detroit MI about 1930. A search on Ancestry.com (with no subscription) indicates that there was a Ruben Schmidt listed in both Wayne Co. MI and Houston Co. TN in 1930, about the same age. Don't know which one may be him or if he perhaps appeared on both by moving in 1930 (it did happen ocassionally).
Any help on this McClain line or any of the associated lines (O'Barr, Powers, Schmidt) would be greatly appreciated.
